Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What can be done if a USB hub has a poor connection?

Electronics in regions with high humidity such as Taiwan may experience poor connections due to moisture affecting the metal contact points or charging ports. In this case, try cleaning the connectors with a cotton swab dipped in isopropy / alcohal.

What to do when using a hub for a keyboard and mouse creates interference?

Certain USB 3.0 ports can cause interference with wireless devices. If you experience this issue, try connecting the keyboard and mouse to a USB 2.0 port to alleviate the problem. This is because the frequencies used by many wireless devices like keyboards and mice fall into the 2.412-2.462GHz ISM band, which is close to the 2.5GHz frequency used by USB 3.0.

Can a USB-C hub charge my device?

Yes, if the devices' USB-C hub supports power delivery, it can charge your device.

Does a USB-C hub affect data transfer speed?

Yes, speeds can vary depending on the specific hub and its design. Speed may be reduced when multiple interfaces on the USB-C hub are working simultaneously. Some hubs can support all USB 3.1 Gen 2 and even USB 4 data transfer speeds, while others may be limited to lower speeds.

What if a USB hub becomes unstable or unusable when multiple devices are connected?

A USB hub without an external power source relies solely on the power supplied by the computer's USB port. Connecting multiple devices like a smartphone charger, external hard drive, monitor, keyboard, and mouse could lead to power supply instability or insufficiency, thus hindering normal operation of certain ports. To mitigate this issue, ensure your laptop is connected to a power source before connecting the USB hub and consider supplying power directly to the hub's Type-C port.

What if a USB hub is overheating?

Electronic products such as USB hubs typically operate within 50 to 60 degrees Celsius under no load conditions. The temperature may rise when devices that generate significant heat, such as charging cables or HDMI cables, are connected. The outer surface of a metallic hub might feel hot due to its good heat conductivity and dissipation.

Is it normal for a USB hub to fit tightly when used on a Mac?

While a tight fit will not damage a Mac, note that the size of a Type-C connectoris standardized across all brands, including ASUS, Acer, and Dell. Any difference in fit or appearance on a Mac is due to the design of these products catering to a diverse consumer base.

What if the network port on a USB hub is not working?

First, check whether the Type-C port on your computer supports network transmission as not all Type C ports have this feature.

Is it normal for a USB hub to heat up during use?

Like most electronic equipment, a noticeable heat generation in the aluminum casing of the USB-C hub is common, especially when all its ports are in use or when it's providing pass-through charging. wehave conducted thorough internal tests which confirm that our USB-C hubs operate at a comfortable temperature of 50°C, far below the mnaximum temperature rating of 100°F for the integrated circuits (IC) used in the industry. Therefore, it's essential to understand that the presence of heat does not necessarily mean there's a problem or defect with the USB-C hub.
